FAE: ART THERAPY WORKSHOP
Nicole Heusch, FAE (Fédération des associations d’étudiant·e·x·s)
Monday October 07 | 12:00 – 14:00 (in french) | Extranef building (EXT-109)
The aim of this workshop is to make you aware of a form of expression other than the spoken or written word as a way of expressing your own experience of mental health (or that of those close to you) as students. The workshop offers an opportunity to discover the impact of personal creation using artistic materials (pre-cut images to be transformed and pasted onto a cardboard support) as a springboard for verbal and/or written expression and as a means of understanding and realising oneself. This artistic mediation calls on both your perceptions and your reflective capacity regarding your experiences of emotional well-being/ill-being, with yourself or with others. The process aims to give renewed meaning to events of an interpersonal nature.
Nicole Heusch is a psychiatric nurse and art therapist specialising in the visual arts. She holds a Master’s degree in American Art Therapy and a Federal Diploma in Art Therapy. She worked in France and Canada before settling in Switzerland. She has run art therapy workshops, particularly for refugees and immigrants, and women’s workshops in conjunction with her private practice.
In 2007, she set up the first art therapy group for family carers in Gland, as part of the home care service. She ran the group from 2007 to 2020, then continued it in private practice until 2023. In 2017, she organised two exhibitions of the art therapy work of Caregivers in Tolochenaz and at the Haute École de Santé in Lausanne (HESAV). She organises other artists’ exhibitions and in 2019 will be exhibiting her own work in Tolochenaz. She has presented her work at several international art therapy conferences in Europe and the United States.
